Feelings

ThreatenedLash out, be reckless-1 to Analyze / Research
AshamedShow off, assert dominance-1 to Invent / Repair
ConfusedObsess or dismiss-1 to Dominate the Room
ExhaustedTake the easy way-1 to Stunt, Sabotage
DesolateOvertax or undermine your relationships-1 to Befriend the Strange

These are toggling checkbox statuses. They are like Conditions in other PBTAs, but they're not heavy like injuries, they fluctuate really fast.

A Feeling is active anytime you're feeling that way in the narrative. Plus you have to accrue one on a 6- roll.

You can cure a Feeling whenever you accomplish something you care about, which includes any 10+ roll.

Assets

As madboys we are interested in getting, using, hoarding, and admiring resources of all kinds: gadgets, loyal monsters, chunks of technical knowledge, favors & clout, etc.

When you succeed in a Move and it gives you a resource, you can abstract it as an ‘Asset’ that will give you +1 to any relevant roll. Track them in view of all players so they can help define your character and situation.

Failed Moves that give you an injury or persistent disadvantage can saddle you with a -1 ‘Burden.’

Option: Monster-Building

This is a supplement to focus on collecting and biologically editing your own team of monsters.

Populate your setting using an existing monster manual like Mortasheen, DnD, yokai, or real animals.

To adapt a monster for this game, give it a set of brief tags that describe its abilities, advantages, and weaknesses. Then when you encounter it, that's your prompt for what kind of threat it may pose narratively. And when you have it in your party, those traits give +1s and -1s when relevant.

You monsters are an extension of you; when they do something on your behalf, you roll a regular Move using your own Stats.

When you collect a monster to your party, put a sketch and name and its tags on an index card.

When you use science to separate parts from a monster, sketch each part on a half-index card. Choose an advantage and maybe disadvantage that goes with the part, and cross those out on the original monster. Then you can paperclip the part to a different monster.

Monster parts are a fun hot commodity in markets, labs, lairs, and gachapon machines; you could sketch a bunch of random parts ahead of time to draw from during the story.

You can use Invent / Repair to represent either altering or training a monster. As a reward, you can add a positive tag. A bad roll could give it a new weakness or bad habit.
